Local Church services over Christmas Welcome to the University of Stirling Chaplaincy's web pages. We're all rather pleased here to finally have our own little corner of the WWW, and we hope you like these pages as much as we like having them. Most of life's issues are little ones - the everyday joys, problems and disappointments that are part of life for all of us from time to time. They don't merit professional counselling, but when they happen we do need someone with whom to share them - someone who will share our feelings with us and whom we can trust to keep our confidences. The Chaplains are sympathetic listeners, here if you need us. Of course we're here to share crises too. We're not University employees (though the University recognises and welcomes us, and provides our base and co-ordinator), so we can speak out if we think something outrageous is happening! We do the best we can for each situation - we seem to be developing the words we're here to help as a catchphrase. Some people think we ought to be "active evangelists", out to make "converts". Of course we'll share with you the faith that is precious to us if you're wanting to hear about it, but faith has to be lived as well as meditated, celebrated and proclaimed, and for us caring is the heart of the faith. Such conviction is caught, not taught (it is religion that is taught): we can only really believe whatever convinces us of its truth. Whatever your faith (including atheism, for that is faith too), if you wish to discuss it with us we shall welcome you and do so, we hope, without personal prejudice or dogmatism. Christianity, Judism and Islam all assert the value of every human being and that we have a duty to care for one another. In the Chaplaincy we try to live by that conviction. We're here to help. Please browse the pages by using the index bar on the right. If at any time, you feel lost, then click on the "Welcome" option to return to this page. For a look at what some people have to say about the Chaplaincy, and a brief description of what is available in the Chaplaincy, then click on "Tea/Coffee." The Chaplaincy is the location for many events throughout the week, some of which are run by other groups within the University. If you click on "Events", you can find out which of these the Chaplaincy is responsible for. To meet the Chaplains, then click on "Chaplains." Finally, there's more to the Chaplaincy than just the Chaplains. By clicking on "Who else?" you can find out about other groups who use the Chaplaincy.
If you have any comments, or want to know more about what the Chaplaincy has to offer, then you can email the Chaplaincy. |
